agriculture and organic farming
Organic farming uses no synthetic fertilizers or aggressive elements to the natural environment, while in organic livestock animals are raised outdoors and are fed with fodder from farming. In this way, you get food that meet the social expectations of total observance of the environment.
Spain ranks second in Europe with regard to acreage organic food and the number of certified operators, after Germany and Italy. Most of the organic food produced in Spain are sold in Germany, Holland and France, while domestic consumption in Spain only accounts for 1 percent of spending on food. This low consumption in our country is motivated in part by the lack of organic food by consumers, hence the importance of information campaigns and promotion of such foods.
Organic farming in La Rioja is fully consolidated. Stood out and forage crops, vineyards and olive trees. With regard to cattle, pigs and stresses the bees.
The main foods are organic Rioja wine, oil, fruits, preserves, honey and sausages, but also produces liqueurs, coffee, vinegars, sauces, mushrooms, bread, pasta and wild products and forestry.
